ABOUT OUR CLUB

We believe tennis is about so much more than learning how to hit a forehand.

Our goal is to make a positive impact on every student, both on and off the court. Tennis provides endless opportunities to develop skills that extend far beyond the game — building coordination, confidence, resilience, accountability, communication, discipline, emotional management and perseverance.

Our programs are designed to help students enjoy their time on court, develop their tennis and grow as people along the way. We guide and mentor every student to become a great tennis player and an even better human being.

We’re a small tennis community with a big heart. Over the past 10 years, we’ve built something we’re really proud of — a welcoming community where students feel supported, encouraged and part of something bigger.

For Coach Ryan, some of the most rewarding relationships have continued long after students have finished their tennis journey. Catching up with former students years later is a reminder that the time spent together on court can create connections that last well beyond tennis.

OUR TEAM

Our coaching team are current and former students of Coach Ryan who share our values, passion for tennis and commitment to our students.

Having grown through the same coaching environment themselves, they understand what makes our club special and help bring that philosophy to life on court.

COACH RYAN

Ryan is an alumni of Redlands College and competed at regional, state, national and international levels throughout his playing career. He spent more than 13 years competing on the Professional Tennis Tour, training and competing alongside players including Nick Kyrgios (ATP #13), Su-Wei Hsieh (ATP Doubles #1) and Joe Salisbury (ATP Doubles #1). His career took him across Asia, Europe, Africa, the United States and Canada.

Ryan has coached in clubs and academies in Germany, Austria, the USA, Maldives and Australia, working with players of all levels — from beginners and social players through to top national and international competitors.

Ryan has now been coaching in the Redlands for over 10 years and continues to love being on court each week with his students. He is passionate about helping players develop their tennis while building a genuine love for the game, and believes his role goes beyond developing tennis skills, helping young people build the confidence, resilience and character they can carry with them throughout life.

COACH ANDREW

Andrew has been playing tennis since he could walk and has a genuine love for the game. He represented St Joseph’s College in the Firsts team in GPS competition throughout his final three years of high school.

Andrew trained full-time with Coach Ryan as a student for many years, gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience both on and off the court. His outstanding work ethic and professionalism make him a fantastic mentor and role model for all of our students.

Andrew is now a full-time qualified physiotherapist and continues to coach because he loves being on court, helping our students develop their tennis and, most importantly, enjoy the game. He plays a valued role in our tennis community and is a wonderful part of our coaching team.

COACH LUCINDA

Lucinda has been part of our club since primary school and has been an incredible student throughout the years. She has continued to grow and progress in her own tennis journey, including being crowned Redlands College Open Girls Champion.

It’s been wonderful to watch her develop not only as a player, but also as a person, and we’re very proud of everything she has achieved.

Lu is a wonderfully positive and compassionate person and a fantastic mentor to our younger students, particularly our girls. As Redlands College School Captain in 2026, she leads by example and brings a warm and welcoming presence to every session. She makes sure every student feels comfortable, supported and able to enjoy their time on court.

Lu plays an important role within our team, and we’re incredibly proud to have her represent our little tennis club.

COACH DAN

Dan has been playing tennis at a high level for many years and has been a member of Coach Ryan’s Performance Squad since joining Redlands College in 2022. He competes regularly in weekly club competitions and travels throughout the year to compete in tournaments.

Dan is a remarkable young man who has taken on a number of leadership roles at Redlands College, including School Captain in 2026. He is a wonderful example of a sporting gentleman and a positive role model for our younger students.

Over the years, Dan has played an important role in coaching and guiding our Red, Orange and Green Ball students. His patience, leadership and willingness to help others make him a valued part of our coaching team, and we’re very proud to have Dan represent our club.
